Die beste een nog nie

This weekend was seriously the BEST! On Friday I obviously had a very hard day teaching but Heather set up such a great weekend to make up for it! On Friday Sharon left for another conference so Heather picked me up after she left school and we went to a jewelry party.  It was at someone’s house and we drank champagne and had appetizers.  It was really fun and one of the girls that was there is in my grade 9 class.  I spoke to her about the day and she made me feel really better about everything.  After the party we went to Friday market.  We met some of the staff from Oakhill, had a few drinks, and just had a great time! I spent the night at the house where Heather is house sitting.  In the morning we picked Ciara up from Ashley’s and took her to her bagpipe lesson.  Heather, her mother, and I went shopping for Ashley’s birthday on Sunday.  Heather’s mother is seriously so nice! I wasn’t really finding anything for myself when we were shopping, but she bought me a case of pencils with a cute design on them for my math class.  It was so nice of her! After shopping we got coffee and went to pick Ciara up from her lesson.  Ciara, Ashley, Heather, and I went to the bird sanctuary for the afternoon.  It was so fun! They had a bunch of little shops around so we got our tickets to play with the birds and did a little shopping and had milkshakes before it started.  The birds were so well trained. They were all rescued and were unable to rehabilitate and release back into the wild.  Normally they would be put down, but they trained them and use them to help spread awareness for conservation.  The birds were so cool and they would fly right by you and sometimes their feathers would hit your head when they would fly by.  We wore gloves and the instructor would put chicken on your glove and they would land on you! He did a bunch of different tricks with the birds.  It was really fun and I learned a lot! After the bird sanctuary we had lunch at a little deli.  While we waited for our food Ciara, Ashley, and I decided to do the little zip lining thing in the front.  We climbed a big obstacle course thing to get to the top.  Ashley stayed at the bottom to take pictures because she was too scared.  Ciara went first and did a great job.  When it was my turn I was kind of scared.  It was so fun at first and then I had to stop myself before I ran into the next tree.  I completely fell to the ground and there was a cloud of dust around me.  Ashley and Ciara didn’t know what to do because their teacher had just eaten dirty right in front of them.  They waited to see if I was okay and burst out laughing.  It was so funny, I was crying laughing.  After we had lunch we went to the cat sanctuary.  My camera ran out of batteries half way through, but luckily Heather had a disposable camera in her car.  I will get them developed hopefully this week!  We began watching this video on conservation and it told us all of the rules and whatever.  You actually got in the cages with the different animals!! They told us we had to stay tall and look big so they didn’t view us as prey!  When we got to the cheetah cage, the instructors started to get sketchy and I was so scared.  They had to bring in extra instructors because the cheetah sometimes likes to “hug” guests.  We were told not to look at them in the eye, and remain calm.  They were running around us and at one point were running right towards us and the instructors freaked out.  It was so scary, I wanted to get out but we were not allowed to make any sudden movements.  After we left we went to, my CT, Hannalie’s house to do her hair since Heather went to beauty school.  When we got there she told us that her father had just passed away which was so sad.  She told me she really needed my help this week and that I could pick up her grade 12 students to teach this week as well as grade 8 and 9.  Also Heather, Ciara, and I are staying at her house to take care of her dogs this week.  For dinner we went to Heather’s house and helped Ciara work on her homework.  Sunday was Ashley’s birthday and we met them for lunch and a really nice restaurant named Zinzi.  We had champagne, wine, and the best lunch since I have been here! After lunch we all went to the elephant park.  It was so cool!  We had to watch a short video and then we got on a jeep thing.  They took us to a spot to feed the elephants.  There was a baby elephant that was on its knees try to get more food.  I gave him some and started to walk away.  He wrapped his trunk around my waste and was like pulling me back! I was so scared but the trainers like yelled at him and pulled him away from me.  The elephants started to walk away once the fruit was gone and then we went to go pet them.  It was so much fun!  One of the best weekends yet!  Now I am back at school mentally preparing for the grade nines.  Hopefully this will be a better week at school!  Also I am giving a presentation tomorrow on how to incorporate technology in mathematics classes.  It will be a busy week with Hannalie gone!

Happy Birthday Hillary!!! I hope you got my card!!
